Wednesday, February 11, 2009
The alleged criminal rape caseinvolving one Newton Neffie continued recently at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara. The accused, Newton Neffie, was alleged of raping a British lady.

Testifying, Detective Abdoulie Sowe told the court that on the day in question, he was on duty at his office at Bakoteh Police Station around 11:00am when he received a telephone call about the alleged rape. He added that he then rushed to the scene with Chief Superintended Commissioner Yankuba Sonko who is now the crime management coordinator. He adduced that when they reached the scene, they met the British woman lying down crying aloud. “We met her bleeding all over her body, she could not talk and two of her hands were tied behind her back with a rope,” said Inspector Sowe.

He further revealed that they then called SukutaHealthCenter to come to their aid but were informed to take her to the health centre. They then searched and arrested the accused person in the house. “The British woman was taken to RVTH, admitted and later discharged,” he added.

Hearing continues.
