The Co-ordinator of Africa Network of Environmental Journalists ANEJ-Gambia chapter, cum Assistant Programme Officer at the National Environment Agency (NEA), Sheikh Alkinky Sanyang has asserted that the launching of the ANEJ- Gambia chapter will made a very big difference regarding the promotion of environmental issues.
Cordinator Sanyang made the remarks recently, during the official launching ceremony of the ANEJ Gambia chapter held at the Gambia Press Union secretariat along
“So as environmental journalists our roles would include disseminating information and to serves as vehicles to supply essential information concerning environment to the door step of the people”.
He said ANEJ- Gambia Chapter strive to network with all media institutions both printed and electronic media as well as partners such as the UNEP, UNDP, NEA among others.
According to Mr.Sanyang, ANEJ membership has been draw from all the relevant stakeholder institutions in the country, “As Environmental Journalists we have a very big role to play in our communities and we need more research before we disseminate the information to the people. We also need to created a very cordial relationship with the environment experts in order to get access to essential environmental information” he noted.
He commended the NEA, Media Agenda, and the Gambia Press Union for their support to the ANEJ-Gambia.
