Anglican Diocese of The Gambia salutes President Jammeh

The Anglican Diocese of The Gambia, under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Dr Solomon Tilewa Johnson, Bishop and Dean of the Province of West Africa, has conveyed greetings and prayers to the Gambian leader, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh.

Below we reproduce the full text of the letter received from the Office of the President, State House, Banjul.

Your Excellency,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to God for our Annual Synod, held from the 12th to 15th February 2009, at The Church of African Martyrs, AMI, Farafenni. It was a blessed time when Synod delegates from throughout The Gambia were able to meet to share experiences and the vision for the Church in this part of the Lord’s Vineyard.

The discussions and decisions of the synod culminated in a number of resolutions one of which related to you. This reads:

Resolutions made by members of the second session of the triennial period of the eighth synod of the Diocese of Gambia, assembled at The Church of African Martyrs, AMI, Farafenni from 12th - 15th February 2009, under the Chairmanship of the Rt. Rev. Dr. Solomon Tilewa Ethelbert Willie Johnson, Bishop of Gambia:

"That warm, sincere and prayerful greetings be sent to His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh; assuring him of our daily prayers for himself and all those who hold authority in our land." May God bless you all with the gifts of wisdom, discernment, love and justice as you govern this nation, and may He strengthen you and your followers.
