At least, 16 lecturers from different skill training centers from The Gambia and Senegal, last Friday, concluded a week-long training on automotive at The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).
The training was organised by Timloto and Team Go for Africa Foundation from Holland who have been coming to The Gambia for the past three years. During their visits over the years, they have donated a lot of learning materials to GTTI and some other skill materials in other institutions in the country. Alp E. Cernaat, coordinator of Jimloto, hailed the high standard of interest demonstrated by trainees throughout the week-long session. He revealed that the training was basically on micro-controller adding that the introduction of this system in automotive, is very relevant as technology is getting to its highest point.
Jan Huizinga, project manager, Go for African, described their mission in The Gambia and Africa in particular, as a successful. He expressed delight of the collaboration betwe Timloto and Go for African. According to him, they would not only improve the technical standard of Gambian students, but the institution as well. Fabakary Saidykan of GTTI, highlighted the assistance received from Go for African and Timloto over the years. He further confirmed the training was educative and hope that it will continue in the coming years.
