Thursday, December 18, 2008
The chief of Niani, Pierre Bah has confirmed that the people of Niani have registered a bumper harvest in the just ended cropping season.
Chief Bah disclosed this to our Janjangbureh correspondent at his Wassu home recently during an exclusive interview. According to him, this year’s bumper harvest in the district will greatly help to ameliorate the global food crisis. He then hailed President Jammeh’s back to the land call which he said, the people of Niani responded to positively.

He also commended the women of the district for contributing greatly to ensure food self sufficiency in the district and for their hard work and commitment.  Chief Bah advised the people of the district not to sell all their agricultural produces in the weekly markets (Lumoos) and leave nothing with their families.

He also advised his people to sell their groundnuts in the country as this year’s price is better than last year’s as a tone stands at D8000, adding that, a new secco has been created at Kataba Omar in order to ease some constrains for farmers as there is bumper harvest.
