Busumbala matricide case in court

Wednesday, April 1, 2009
The man who allegedly killed his mother in Busumbala appeared before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates Court on Tuesday 31, March 2009.

Buba Yaboe was brought to the court in handcuffs by the police. When the charge sheet was read to him, he pleaded guilty noting that he had told the police earlier on that he was going to kill his mother.

The presiding magistrate, however, told the accused that the nature of the case required him to obtain the services of a lawyer. Consequently, he said, the court would write to the Master of the High Court to provide the defendant with a counsel. Meanwhile he ordered for the accused to be remanded at Mile 2 until the Master of the High Court is able to find a counsel for him.

Buba Yaboe, who is also alleged to be mentally imbalanced, is said to have murdered his mother, Nani Jarju, in Busumbala by hitting her on the head with an iron bar on 29 March.
