Tobaski is fast approaching, members of the community assistance group based in
Serekunda met with livestock dealers within the greater
Speaking at the meeting Buba Sarr, head of the group, said every year before the start of the Tobaski they meet all the stakeholders to discuss with them and appeal to them to reduce the price of rams at the various Darals in the country
Musa Njie, president of the livestock dealers association, assured the gathering that they will do everything to see how best to bring down the price of livestock in the country to help the people. He noted that during the cause of Tobaski the transporters charge them very high prices.
He also used the occasion to appeal to The Gambia National Transport Association to talk to their members to maintain the normal prices to make things easy for everybody.
The Alkalo of Abuko, Alh Botto Tamba, described the meeting as a family one noting that all this is geared towards making the price of livestock affordable to the people.
He appealed to dealers to avoid middlemen in the market who sometimes make life difficult for the buyers.
Ansumane Jammeh, director of Kanilai farm central Abattoir, thanked the dealers for the meeting and called on them to make the price affordable for the people.
Others speakers at the occasion included the Imam of Sererkunda, Sheikh Ceesay of The Gambia National Transport Control Association and Lamin Bojang vice-chairman of Brikama Area Council.
