The Bundung Association for the Disabled and their Children (BADAC) last Saturday select Dr Ancha Jagne-Ceesay, a Gambian residing in UK, as its new goodwill ambassador.

She is to represent the group at both the national and international levels. Speaking at the ceremony marking the event, the Lord Mayor of KMC, Yankuba Colley - a board member of BADAC, said his municipality is for all sectors of society, disabled or not. “We are all equal.

I believe a human being is a human being and we must treat the disabled equally,” he said. Demba Darboe, the coordinator of the association said that the title of the goodwill ambassador was given to Dr Ancha Jagne-Ceesay because of her dedication, interest and willingness to partake in the affairs of the disabled in Senegal.

According to Mr Darboe, the association was founded five years back and has a membership of over 150 people. “The aims and objectives of the association is to map out programs and activities geared towards creating an enabling environment for the people living [disabilities] with a view to make them productive and self sustaining,” he explained.
