One Omar Ceesay, a driver and resident of Old Yundum recently testified in the ongoing criminal trial of Pap Ebou Gaye and Jebbel Sallah, who are alleged of “prohibition of trafficking and acting as intermediary for the purpose of trafficking in person”.

In his testimony, the prosecution first witness told the court that, on 25th August, 2009, after closing from work, he received a telephone call from the first accused Pap Ebou, who asked him whether he knew Brufut, to which he replied in the affirmative.

He adduced that, the first accused told him to lead the second to Brufut, which he did. Mr Ceesay further told the court that upon arrival at Brufut Beach, the second accused was discussing with another man that he had no knowledge of their discussion.

He said later he left the beach to his home where he met with the police officers who arrested him, together with the second accused and were taken to Kairaba Police Station and later referred to Serrrekuda Police Station without knowing the reason of their arrest.

He added that, at the police station his statement was forcefully obtained and forced to thumbprint the statement.

The prosecution then applied to tender the said statement as an exhibit, which was later admitted and marked as an exhibit.

The case was adjourned to 29th September 2009.
