A team of Dutch teachers and the principal of Zealand University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands are currently on a week-long educational study visit to The Gambia College.

According to Abubacarr Jallow, the deputy registrar and the link coordinator at the Gambia College, during their tour, the students will look at moral education, how different ethnic or religious groups are able to live harmoniously and general issues of educational management in the African context.

This, he said, is mainly for them to learn some ways of teaching multi-cultural issues. Jallow,  who made these remarks during an interview with the Daily Observer on Monday, revealed that the link has a great impact on the college. He said "we have been receiving students from the Netherlands working in our IT Department - who have developed a database for the college. Some of them were involved in the teaching of IT in the college.

In fact, one of their lecturers was here last August and trained IT personnel from the  Gambia College and other partner institutions like MDI, GTTI, and the UTG". He further thanked the Dutch for the gesture and expressed hope that the link will continue.

For his part, RA Rinze Friso, head of the International Office at the Zealand University of Applied Sciences,  said this coming August, they will send more lecturers to the Gambia College and most importantly, students in The Gambia will visit the Netherlands to study business, water management and chemistry. "We are continuously looking to extend this cooperation,” he concluded.
