Fire destroys North Bank compound

The chief of Lower Baddibu District, North Bank Region, Alhaji Fafanding Kinteh, recently visited a fire disaster victim at Njie Kunda in his district.  

The man was said to have been the victim of a fire outbreak which ravaged a compound belonging to one Abdoulie Bah. The buildings in the compound were razed to the ground along with other properties and foodstuff. Speaking on behalf of the governor, Chief Kinteh, extended his sympathy to all the victims. The chief used the occasion to appeal to the Kerewan Area Council, National and Regional Disaster committees to support the affected families, as they are in desperate need of help.

In an interview with this reporter in his compound, Abdoulie Bah, the head of the household, and his wife, Fatou Sabally, hailed the efforts of the community of Njie Kunda and Toroba for their timely intervention, which helped to save the lives of people in the household. The affected family used the opportunity to call on individuals, organizations and philanthropists to come to their aid.

Amat Njie, the alkalo of the village, expressed similar sentiments and urged his people to implement preventive fire mechanisms to avoid any reoccurrence of the fire outbreak. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established.
