The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) yesterday announced the nomination of candidates for the Foday Kunda ward by-election in the Basse Area Council, a press release from the IEC reveals.

The release reads: In accordance with Section 52 of Decree 78 of 1996, Mr Malamin Darboe has been duly nominated through the APRC party for the position of councillor for the Foday Kunda Ward in the Base Area Council.

For the same ward, Mr Alhagie Kanteh has been duly  nominated through the NADD party ticket for the position of councillor. Therefore, a by-election will take place in accordance with Section 53, subsection (2) (a) of the same decree, in order to fill the position of councillor for Foday Kunda Ward on January 8th, 2008.
