Former U-17 prolific striker, Kawsu Jatta, passed away at his residence at London Corner last Sunday following a heart disease he suffered some time ago.
The 17 year-old Steve Biko striker was part of the U-17 squad that went to Sierra Leone during the African U-17 qualifiers. Kawsu, who had established himself as an instrumental figure under Coach Abdoulie Boang, joined Steve Biko in 2007.
He joined Steve Biko from the Hand Center of Excellence Academy and went ahead to establish himself as an unstoppable striker playing an instrumental role in Steve Biko’s failed attempt to win their first ever GFA league title in his first debut in 2007.
In 2008, he helped the Bakau giants finished 6th in the GFA first division league championship, scoring many important goals for the 2001 FA cup title holders.
Reacting to the sudden demise of Kawsu Jatta, Kemo Ceesay of Steve Biko expressed sadness for the news, describing Kawsu Jatta as a very respectful and a hardworking player both on and off the pitch.
Kawsu’s demise, he added ,came as a result of a heart problem he suffered sometime ago. Mr Ceesay described Kawsu’s demise as a great lost to not only Biko, but the whole country at large.
