As part of efforts to promote and sustain local cultural activities, a cultural gala night was staged last Friday at the Kairaba Beach Hotel by stakeholders in the development of culture in the country.

The event was organised by The Gambia Hotel Association in collaboration with the NorwegianCollege of Dance, Education through Culture and Communication Organisation (ECCO), the University of the Gambia and The Gambia Hotel Association.

The cultural night showcased a cultural performance from the Sembeh International Cultural Group and the NorwegianCollege of Dance group.

The performance was said to be as a result of an artistic cross-cultural collaboration between the NorwegianCollege of Dance, ECCO -Gambia and the University of the Gambia.

This, according to the organisers, has also resulted to the integration of Norwegian and Gambia students which represents a millstone in the development of Gambia Institute of Performing Arts.

Earlier, four Gambian youths who went through an audition among talented Gambians, were invited to participate in an intensive course by the NorwegianCollege of Dance.

Following their successful participation, they obtained international accredited study-points in which one of them will be chosen to undergo a 3 year Bachelor Degree in Dance with Pedagogy at NorwegianCollege of Dance in Oslo.

The cultural gala night also witnessed a raffle draw with fabulous prizes won by a cross section of people who attended the dinner.
