Friday, March 27, 2009
The Gambia Under 17 team will play Niger in the semi-final of the on-going African Under 17 Championship in Algeria.

The Baby Scorpions beat hosts Algeria on Wednesday to finish at the top of Group A with 9 points, while Niger lost 0-1 to Burkina Faso in their final group match yesterday to finish as Group B second best with 6 points. The two sides will now lock horns on Sunday, March 29, in the first semi-final match, which will kick-off at 12:30 GMT in Zeralda, 40  kilometer of the capital Algiers.

The same day will see the hosts battle it out with Group B winners Burkina Faso in the other semi-final match. Just like the Gambians who won all their group matches, Burkina Faso are also unbeaten in the championship. The Burkinabes scored 7 goals and conceded none as they eye their first Under 17 title.
