Gambia to extend Paul Put’s contract tomorrow

Monday, February 2, 2009
The Gambia government, through the department of state for Youth and Sports, is set to renew the contract of the Gambia Scorpions’ head coach Paul Put, Observer Sports can reveal.

A two-line statement issued by the Youth and Sports department yesterday said the contract signing ceremony will take place at the President Jammeh’s Joint Officers Mess at Kotu at 10:00 am tomorrow. The release did not state the duration of the contract, but reports on the local media have it that the Belgian will sign a four-year deal after the expiry of his one-year Africell-backed contract.

Paul Put’s contract extension will come barely a week before he leads the Gambia Scorpions to an international friendly match against Gabon Black Panthers in Paris on February 10. The Belgian said the Paris friendly is among a series of warm-up matches lined up for the Scorpions in his efforts to further expose the Gambian players.
