Gambia Wrestling Association Set for Weekend Bout

The Gambia Wrestling Association will tomorrow embark on a wrestling championship, in commemoration of Gambia’s 44th Independence Anniversary at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium

Speaking in an interview with Pointsport on Tuesday, Mr. Mattar Jarju, President of The Gambia Wrestling Association, stated that the open wrestling will start on Friday while the Saturday competition will be contested between the wrestlers of The Gambia and Senegal. He revealed that the winner of this championship will receive a cash prize of D30, 000 while the runner up will receive D20, 000 and the third place winner will go home with D10, 000.

The wrestling association boss pointed out that the Sunday competition will be in two forms. He communicated that the free style wrestling would be mainly competed between Gambian wrestlers while the boxing wrestling will be pitted against the Senegalese wrestlers.

According to Mr. Jarju the finalist in the boxing wrestling combat would each go home D40, 000 richer.

He announced that the gate fees for adults will be D100 and D50, 00 for children.
