Degerfors IF on Friday announce the departure of their Gambian acquisition in a statement posted on their official website.

"The [two] parties have agreed to break the two year contract of the Gambian with immediate effect,’ it said. The club gave the reasons for the separation as follows: "Ceesay never provided the force the team had hoped for.

"Injuries, combined with long-term mission of the team are well some of the reasons why things did not work out for the midfielder, who now intends to seek new challenges". The club’s statement came several weeks after Mal made it clear he wanted to leave after Degerfors were relegated to the third tier Swedish league.

The Gambian midfielder joined Degerfors in the middle of the just-ended season when the club was languishing in the relegation zone. After the club’s fate was sealed, Mal told Gambia Sports Online that he intended to seek a new challenge elsewhere since playing third division football was not appealing to him.

with the level of morale in our camp, I have no doubt that we will get the three points in our first outing. I have spoken to the players and they’ve ready for the task," Coach Alhagie Sey stressed.
