Five Millions More Needed

The nation’s telecommunication and GSM providers Gamtel and Gamcel yesterday pledged to give the Gambia U-17 D3.5 million as contribution to the African champions training camp in the United Kingdom.

The Baby Scorpions’ UK training camp has been delayed, due to unavailability of funds, as another five million dalasi is needed for the one month training camp, according to GFA President, Seedy MB Kinteh.

“We are working ahead of September 17th with the organisers, the British FA so that the team can stage a successful camp,” he pointed out.

Inorder to raise the five million needed to be in the UK within a few days time, the GFA supremo is calling for more support from all Gambian stakeholders and the private sector to complete the remnant of the funding.

“I will seize this opportunity to commend Gamtel/Gamcel who confirmed to us yesterday that this said amount will be given to the Baby Scorpions as their contribution to the camp,” Seedy told Pointsport.

As part of the camp, the side is expected to play friendly matches twice in a week.

While in the UK, the African champions will play American and Germany U-17 teams.

“It is confirmed between the American FA and that of The Gambia to stage this friendly,” the GFA boss stated.

They will also play friendlies with academies like Chelsea, Tottingham, among others, all within the UK.
