The Gambia Volleyball Association congress scheduled for last Saturday at the Olympic House is deferred following the dissatisfaction of delegates on the financial statement presented to the general body.

Delegates who represented Betterness, UTG, Interior male and female teams and Jeshwang could not accept the financial report on the association’s state of affairs. The election of another executive could not hold on Saturday.

The figures in the financial report presented on behalf of the treasurer, Sam Ogoo, by Alhaji Ceesay alias “Nature” was said not to tally.

March 7th, 2009 has been selected as the date for the congress to give chance to the outgoing executive to review the financial report which will be presented to the body for approval before congress.

Musa Cassa Taal who led the association for the past four years, reacting to the development said the delegates have the final say in congress and can determine who is to be elected in office.

“It is not bad to express your view if your are not satisfied with an issue., but the treasurer will be here to present the  reviewed statement  in March” he said.

He pointed out that the treasurer could not make it on Saturday due to the fact that he was engaged in an accident that morning.

Cassa also told Pointsports that the March 7th congress will also give him the opportunity to clarify on certain assets of the associations like the nets and balls to the general body, who requested information about it.
