The milling machine, which was made in The Gambia, is valued at D65, 000 and was proudly sponsored by Glove Charity in partnership with two other international philanthropists Linda and Justine.

The two philanthropists, who come from England, are said to have contributed 90% of the funds raised towards the acquisition of the milling machine for the village.

In his welcoming remarks at the presentation ceremony, the Imam of the village, Cherno Sowe, expressed appreciation and joy over the gesture, noting that it could not have come at a better time than now.

He asserted that the intervention of Glove Charity to his village cannot be over emphasised as the organisation did not only support his village with a milling machine but also other materials and equipment ranging from mosquito nets to medicaments.

This, he added, has greatly helped in reducing and controlling malaria and also with the transportation costs of movement from one place to another searching for medical care.

Imam Sowe commended the head of Glove Charity, Jackie Church, for her foresight in helping the village of Sambollet.

According to him, the intervention of Glove Charity, under Jackie and her partners, has brought lot a lot of development to the village. He sighted the provision of clean and safe drinking water and the equipment at the village’s Horticulture garden, which is currently being sponsored by Glove Charity. He also sighted as example, the construction of a Nursery school for the community of Njongon village, which was sponsored by a charity called Support Education in The Gambia, The Netherlands and spearheaded by Dary and William Van Dyhe family.

He went on to urge the community of the village to work hand in hand with Glove Charity for the benefit of the village.

For her part, Jackie Church, head of Glove Charity, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to them by the community of the village.

She said that her charity Organisation is here not only to help the community of Sambollet but also other villages as well. According to her, Glove Charity is focusing in many activities but mainly agriculture. She went further to say that her charity will change the local wells in the village to hand pumps and install a six metre high tower that can take up to 400 litres.

Mrs. Church also expressed her willingness to see to it that the community of Sambollet is blessed with safe drinking water. She commended President Jammeh for his back to the land call, which she added, she is in line with.
