The Greater Banjul Upper Basic School together with the students of St. Mary’s College of Maryland who are currently with the U.T.G this semester on Saturday conducted a cleansing exercise commonly known as ‘Set-Setal’ at the Greater Banjul Upper Basic School premises.
Speaking to this reporter, The Vice Principal of Greater Banjul Upper Basic School, Saidou Jallow described their relation with St Mary’s College as long standing one. He thanked them for joining the school in providing an attractive environment for learning. He described cleanliness as Godliness, adding a healthy mind been embarking on a ‘Set-Setal’ and this will help the student to stay in a clean environment.
For her part, Lucy Bill of St Mary’s College in America described their relation with the school as a good initiative. She said they visited the country every semester. She said they will help in the renovation of the Classes and provision of furnitures for the students she assured of the continues collaboration with the school.
For her part, Majula Sanyang of the University of The Gambia (UTG) described the cleansing exercise as a means of providing an enabling environment for learning to the students of the school. She urged them to be responsible students by keeping the school environment clean at all time.
For their part, Lamin Trawally and Mariatou Badjie, Head boy and Assistant Head Girl respectively all cited on the important of a clean environment particularly where learning take place.
