One Muhammed Kuraisy Jallow, who was charged with one Samba Colley for allegedly obtaining money by false pretences on Wednesday 8th April, 2009 told the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court in his testimony that he was assured by Samba Colley that he (Muhammad Kuraisy Jallow) would marry a devil.
Testifying before senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake, the witness told the court that he was one day ill and when he met the other accused, Samba Colley, the latter told him that he could cure him. He stated that the accused told him that he had to pay D1000 for the treatment but they later agreed on D500 for the payment. He testified that the accused then gave him some concoctions to drink but after drinking it, he suffered from stomach ache for some days. He noted that the accused again gave him some local medicine and when he used it, he became unconscious.
He revealed that the accused later showed him a tin of milk which the accused split open.. He further narrated that there was a juju and some money in the tin. He stated that the accused told him that if he told anybody what happened, he would incur the wrath of the tin because there was a devil that was in the tin.
He went on to say that the accused requested D40, 000 from him so that he (the witness) could marry the devil. He noted that he did give the accused the money. He testified that around , the accused asked him to meet him at a certain place and again, the accused requested another D40, 000 from him which he gave to him.
He revealed that he later saw a dark object in front of him and the accused confirmed to him that it was the devil. He narrated that the said devil gave him a finger ring and he communicated with the devil in Fullah. He revealed that the accused asked him to fetch the blood of a cow but he told him that he could not get it. He stated that the accused told him that he knew a cattle dealer who resided at Farafenni and on their arrival, the accused called a man who told them that he had some cattle to sell. He adduced that the accused asked for the price of a cow and the man said it was D12, 000 and he (witness) paid for it. He finally told the court that when he returned to The Gambia, he could not find the accused and that he did not refund him his money and he never married the devil.
