JAC assists needy students

The Janjangbureh Area Council (JAC), last Tuesday, presented twelve cheques amounting to one hundred and twenty thousand dalasis, to twelve schools for the final payment of school fees, tuition fees, book bills, and other things for over hundred students.

Handing over the cheques, the chief executive officer of the council, Yusupha Manneh, said progress can only be achieved through education, noting that no one can attain development without education. He assured them of their readiness to always help in the education sector and assisting the needy and deserving students. He thanked the school heads for their cooperation and patients during the course of the term. He called on the beneficiaries to make best use of the scholarships.

Receiving the cheques on behalf of the schools, the senior education officer for region five, Lamin Juwara, applauded the council for the gesture, noting that it will go a long way to complementing government’s efforts in providing scholarships to the needy students. He said this is timely, adding that the school fees are used to develop the school and paying the night watchman.

Michael Hamadi Secka, commended Janjangbureh Area Council for their benevolent assistance they are rendering to the schools, particularly the needy students. Alhagie Kekuta Ceesay, the chairman of the council and Modou Jagne, the development officer said the councils are service providers and called on the people of the region to pay their rates and taxes on time, to enable council to establish more projects for the communities.
