Libyan Leader Addresses Gambian YouthsMonday, July 27, 2009 As he renew his Call for USA The leader of the Great Socialist Arab Jamahiriya and current Chairman of African Union, His Excellency Brother Muamar Al Gaddafi has reiterated his long-term call for African Unity, stressing that He added that Africans should not allow themselves to be colonised again by the so-called colonial masters, saying that The AU’s Chairman made this comment last Thursday, while addressing thousands of Gambian youths at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, as part of his visit to the Libyan leader told thousands of cheering youths that He further urged young people to distance themselves from illegal migration and stay and develop the African continent. Gaddafi said the youthful population has a role to play in the realisation of African unity and then urged them to join in the struggle for the Gaddafi strongly called on the ‘big powers’ to respect Africa and allow Africans to have a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, saying African voices should be heard at the international level. The African Union boss revealed that Africa needs strong men and that Speaking earlier on behalf of the Gambian youths, the Executive Secretary of the National Youths Council, Mr Marcel Mendy, said President Jammeh has the development of Mr. Mendy said the development of Gambian youths depends on the viability and sustainability of certain aspects, if they are to develop their potential to the fullest. As he put it, these include micro- finance schemes to encourage youth participation, infrastructural and facility development, youth participation in farming, youth leadership skills and capacity-building for institutions to effectively co-ordinate youth development programmes and activities, among others. Almamy Taal, the Chairperson of the National Youth Council read the solidarity message, while Hon. Sheriff Gomez chaired the ceremony.
