Man Convicted For Possession Of Duplicated KeysWednesday, October 21, 2009
Principal Emmanuel E. A. Amadi of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Ebrima Manneh to a fine of D1000, in default to serve one year in prison. Delivering his judgment, Principal Emmanuel Amadi told the court that in the light of the evidence adduced before the court, he found out that the accused was in possession of the duplicated keys. He said the accused had confessed in his written statement that he got the key to steal fuel, and that there was an independent witness who signed the statement which was tendered in court without objection. He said the accused did not ask the witnesses in his cross examination, leading to the conclusion that the accused accepted their evidence as the truth. “I found out that, the evidence of the prosecution witnesses and the accused own written statement had proven the case of the prosecution beyond reasonable doubt,” he stated. The convict, in his plea of mitigation, begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying that he has 5 children and since the beginning of the case he has not been working. Author: Yai Dibba
