Man Seeking Overseas Treatment

Dawda Sarjo a 25-year-old man of Marakissa village in Western Region is in urgent need of overseas treatment. This is revealed in a medical report from the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital.

The letter, dated 14th January 2009, was signed by Dr.Tamsir Mbowe Director Medical and Health Services and Director President Treatment Programme.

According to the medical report, issued by the hospitals medical board, Sarjo had a history of a fall from a palm tree. He had some pain in the right hip some time later and in 2004 he developed a serious pain in the right hip.

Presently, the report added, the patient complains of severe pain in the right hip, with difficulty to walk, and stand for a long time.

On examination, “tender right hip, deformity in the right hip with a shorter right lower limb, loss of movement of right hip”. X-ray shows: destruction of the right hip joint, reduced joint space, osteophytes, Osteoporosis.

Diagnosis: -Coxarthosis right hip degree.

“He needs surgical treatment with a prosthesis, which can not be done here, because of lack of instruments. He needs treatment overseas,” the report concludes.
