His Excellency the president, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, has received a letter from the Algerian president, His Excellency Abdulaziz Bouteflika, congratulating him on the blessed occasion of Mawlud Nabi, the birth of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBH).
The message reads:
Your Excellency, Mr President and Dear Brother,
It is a pleasure for me to present to you my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on my behalf and on behalf of the Algerian Government and people at a time the "Muslim Umma" is celebrating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). I pray to the Almighty Allah for more and more returns of the blessings of this day on you and your brotherly people.
This great day will remind us of the life of the Prophet (SAW), who was sent by the Almighty as mercy for Humanity and who preaches to do good for the interest and unity of the Muslim Umma, to become one.
I pray to the Almighty Allah to grant us success in fulfilling the aspirations of our people towards progress, welfare and prosperity to enable the Umma to regain its pioneering, civilization and humanitarian roles.
I wish Your Excellency, continued good health and happiness and your brotherly people, progress and prosperity.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

President of Aliyev acknowledges Jammeh’s message
The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, has written a letter to the Gambian leader, Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, acknowledging receipt of a message the Gambia leader sent him, congratulating him on his re-election as president.
President Aliyev’s message reads:
Your Excellency Mr President,
I would like to thank you for your sincere message of congratulation and heart-felt wishes on the occasion of my re-election to the post of president of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
I am sure that we shall continue our mutual efforts aimed at developing the friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and The Gambia.
In this privileged circumstance, I wish Your Excellency continuous good health and happiness and the brotherly Gambian people more progress and prosperity under your wise leadership.

Also writing, this time from the Senegalese capital of Dakar, Moussa Casse, managing editor of the monthly pan-African magazine Temps de l’Afrique, conveyed a condolence message to President Jammeh and the First Family.
Below, is a reproduction of the full text of the message:
"Your Excellency, Mr President of the Republic,
I’ve learnt with deepest regret the demise of your dearest aunty.
I express my condolences and pray to Allah, at the helm of His Sublime Generosity, to dub her under the seal of the Prophets.
I naturally know your sadness. But I also know you as a believer and a marvelously courageous person. On this sad occasion, I want to express my sympathy and my solidarity.
I pray to Allah to shower His Blessings on your dearest aunty, brighten her last residence and welcome her to His Eternal Paradise.
While renewing my support, please accept hereby, Your Excellency, my dedicated sentiments.
