Editorial,

The massive enticement of the Motor Traffic Act by the police is undoubtly a giant step in preventing accidents. It is indeed a great incentive to efforts towards saving lives.  The use of the seat belts, as well as the use of hands-free mobile phones while driving, will permit the concentration needed in the control of our motor vehicles and protection of human soul.

The National Assembly have once again performed their duty to the citizenry.  Their move to pass the Motor Traffic Act indicates the high regards they have for the lives and safety of the citizenry.

On the part of the police, as law enforcement agency, they are also exercising their mandate to the maximum.  The police are being spotted all along the high ways being vigilant, ensuring that the people in the traffic conduct themselves by the dictates of the act.

However, what is of paramount significance, is awareness on the part of the citizenry.  The people should become aware that whatever act is been enacted and passed by the National Assembly is in our best interest. We have to serve as police of our own and conduct ourselves according to the dictates of our laws.

The Motor Traffic Act is a life-saving law and a perfect instrument to curb accidents. Any attempt to prevent accidents, therefore, should be welcomed by all and sundry. The population has a very crucial role to play in the implementation of this act.

The National Assembly have done their job and we the citizens should also do our own.  We have to cooperate fully with our police to ensure the sustainability of the act.  As the saying goes "the life that you safe may be your own."
