National Female Team On Ramadan Break

The Gambia National Female team that is supposed to take part in their first-ever international football tournament (WAFU) to be held in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is currently on Ramadan break, after more than four months in intensive preparatory programme ahead of the WAFU championship.

The team under the guardian of Coach Buba Jallow is expected to rest for a period of one month, before they will resume training for the WAFU Female Football Championship which has recently been rescheduled till further notice.

The WAFU championship, according to the President of the Gambia Football Association, Seedy M.B.Kinteh, would be sponsored by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The team has since its establishment been involved in a series of friendly games with the female selection drawn from various divisions.

They as well won many of the test matches, all geared towards the preparation for the WAFU Female Championship in Nigeria.

The team’s most outstanding performance to date came during their historic 6-0 thumping of Ziguinchor in Cassamance, which was also their first international outing since its inception sometimes ago.
