Nawettan in Foni Brefet Gains Momentum

Brefet United came from behind to held Qcell to a hard-fought 2-2 draw in the ongoing Foni Brefet District Sports Association’s summer Nawettan championship which continued to produce some wonderful games and revelations.

Qcell Star player Modou Kebbeh put his name on the score sheet in the 29th and 52nd minutes to give his side a two goal advantage.

But the situation turned in the opposite direction when the determine Brefet United levelled the score courtesy of a brace from Lamin Saho as a result of technical error from the Qcell coach who paid the prise for his wrong substitutions.

The second game of the championship witnessed another titanic encounter when Gamcel of Bajana entertained Madcobra of Jagil to a one-all draw on the 13th July with Babou Sanyang and Lorence Mendy scoring in the 22ndand 82 minutes respectively which was followed by another pulsating goaless draw between Kaparan of Somita and Sutusinjang United.

Africell of Besse recorded the first win of the eight team championship with a narrow 2-1 victory against Comium of Bulock and Captain Yunusa Jarjou who scored Comium’s consolation in the 51stminute was given his marching order following a second bookable offence in the 68th minute of a see-saw encounter.

Qcell has put their frustrating start to the Nawettan behind them with a narrow one-nil win over Sutusinjang United thanks to a superb strike by Limson Jallow in the 76th minute while that lost their first game went further to played a disappointing goaless draw against Madcobra on the 20th July 2009.

Kaparan the following day suffered a two one defeat in the hands of Brefet United with Lamin Saho scoring twice in the 55th and 67th minutes respectively while Sainey Camara put his name on the score sheet for his side’s consolation in the 84th minute.

As the table stands Brefet United is leading the table closely followed by Qcell, while Sutusinjang and Kaparan are rooted at the bottom of the four team table.

Africell are the leaders of group B followed by Madcobra and Gamcel while Comium is still struggling at the bottom of the table.

Mean while Matches will resume in the district after the holy month of Ramadan.
