A new Psychiatric hospital  under construction at Salagie Estate in the Western Region will soon be handed over to the Gambia government, according to Anna Bauman, the sponsor of the project.

The construction of the hospital, which started in May 2008, is funded by the Tanka-Tanka Foundation, a dutch charitable organisation based in The Gambia since 1998. The construction work is being done by by  Future In Our Hands (FIOH), and Anna Bauman, a founding member of Tanka-Tanka Foundation feels obliged to  not express delight over the job well done.

She chose to do it by throwing a party for the men that took part in the construction work. "I am very pleased with the work, so I must express delight for them [the workers] to understand that I am very happy." The party was organised by her foundation at the Salagie Estate and, according to her, to complement her workers’ efforts in the project.

She hailed the Gambian people for their commitment to the project, describing it as magnanimous.  She also thanked President Jammeh and his government for the generosity rendered to them. Dembo Bah, contractor of Future In Our Hands (FIOH), revealed that his company has been actively engaged in project works for over 20 years. He promised that the whole construction of the project site will be completed in June 2009, despite the challenges they  are faced with.
