New coach, Pa Samba Mbenga, has started his Real de Banjul stint with a 2-1 win against Tallinding United on Saturday at the Brikama Mini-stadium.
The hard-fought win also gave Real de Banjul their first three points in five matches. The former Armed Forces coach was unveiled as the new coach of the 2007 Champions, replacing care-taker coach Papa Sarr Corr - whose four-match stewardship could only earn them one out of possible twelve points.
Striker Edrissa Jarra scored from the penalty spot to give the Banjul club the lead in the 9th minute before Tallinding United replied in the 55th minute through Bakary Njie. But it took Mbemba Colley’s 75th minute strike to seal the tie for the struggling dethroned champions who have now bagged four points in five matches.
