NFF to monitor player selections

Monday, December 22, 2008
The technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation concluded its meeting in Abuja on Thursday with a recommendation to the Executive Committee that it monitor player selections of national team coaches.

Committee chairman Taiwo Ogunjobi said after the meeting with the Head Coaches of the national teams that that decision was only one of many far-reaching conclusions reached. "We met with the coaches and discussed with them, and made it clear that we will henceforth monitor closely their team selection and preparation for major competitions and qualifying games.

"More than that, the technical committee is looking into other areas like the grading of the Coaches in order for us to know who is worth what, and who should handle which national team. "The truth is that the present arrangement is not sacrosanct; when we submit our recommendations to the Executive Committee, and the Executive Committee sits on them, you will hear more," said Ogunjobi, himself a Member of the NFF Executive Committee.
