Nigeria U-17 To Jet In Banjul Today

Friday, September 4, 2009

Following an over-aged crisis struck by the Nigerian Football authorities with their national U-17 side, the team is finally set to land in Banjul this morning in fulfilment of a proposed friendly international match with the Gambia U-17.

As agreed, both sides will play two matches set for Saturday September 5 and Monday September 7 2009 at the nation’s stadium and Brikama Box Bar Stadium.

Nigeria the host of the tournament, which kicks-off at the end of October, recently dropped 15 players from their Under-17 World Cup squad, following tests to determine the ages of team members.

The move to scan the players came after football’s world governing body Fifa announced plans to carry out tests during the tournament itself.
