November 3rd Is D-Day For Briton Murder Case

The prolonged murder case involving Kate Atrori West, who is alleged of murdering her late husband, William West, a British national some time in 2006 at Sanyang village in Kombo South will soon come to an end.

Justice Ngui Mboob-Janneh, the presiding Judge, on Friday October 2nd 2009 set November 3rd 2009 as the day she is expected to deliver judgement on the case.

This follows an adoption of written briefs filed by both the prosecution and the defence.

The case saw the testimonies of 14 prosecution witnesses.

Defence counsel Lamin Camara told the court that he was served in court with the reply on point of law filed by the prosecution, but he was objecting to all the paragraphs except paragraphs 9 and 13.

He posited that the rest of the paragraphs were not based on point of law and hence urged the court to reject those paragraphs.

In response to the defence counsel’s objection, State Counsel Marley Wood said that the reply filed by the prosecution was all purely based on point of law and thus urged the court to accept it.

In her ruling, Justice Ngui Mboob-Janneh stated that the court would accept the reply filed by the prosecution and would also take note of the defence counsel’s objection when delivering the judgement.
