NYC Chairman Hails President Jammeh

The chairman of the National Youth Council, Alhagie Kebbeh, informed the gallery at the opening ceremony of this years Nayconf that the establishment of the National Enterprising Development Initiative (NEDI) and Gamjob is purposely to create an opportunities for young people especially for women and is a right move.

“Such projects always energise growth and gainful development for the vulnerable and up to the most active members of the society,” he asserted. Mr. Kebbeh revealed that the aim of these youth friendly projects, initiated by the Government, is to improve the livelihoods of young people as denoted by this year’s theme “Invest in youths for sustainable development”.

Mr. Kebbeh divulged that, the past show saw unprecedented development which prepared the youths to become greater players in socio-economic development.

Mr. Kebbeh was quick to admit that, despite of the tremendous development realised by the Government there are more challenges that lie ahead in 2009 and beyond. He dearly called on all the participants especially those in the conference to use the unique opportunity to voice the menaces affecting them and put up strategies.

Mr. Kebbeh appealed to the Government to provide land for the construction of National Youth Council Secretariat, transportation for the easy mobility of the council and other needs the council deem fit for sustainable development.
