Ousman Jabang a Vibrant Player

Ousman Jabang, alias Lampard, is a player with great talent and he is among the rising stars in the coastal village of Kartong in Kombo South in the Western Region of The Gambia.

He was born in 1993, he start playing football in his teenage years on Buniob Street in Kartong and Jala Talii of Old Jeshwang in the KanifingMunicipality. He started his career with World Eleven FC in 2003-04 in the Kartong Junior Newton League Championship but they were eliminated at the semi final stage.

In 2005-06, he played for Dragons FC in the intermediate championship in Old Jeshwang and they won the title. In 2007-08 he played for Commit FC in the Gunjur Senior Newton League Championship and he won the knockout trophy with them.

In 2008-09, he joined NAS FC and they were eliminated at the quarter final stage in both the league and the knockout championship.

He was part of the Kartong district team that lost to Farato in the final of Kombo South District Tournament and also in the Gunjur Zonal Team that participated in the just ended Baby Muhammed Yahya Jammeh’s Zonal Championship, where they finished at fourth.

Speaking to Pointsports, the assistant coach of NAS FC, Omar Sowe, said that Lampard is a superb, young and determined midfielder that has the potential to play in any defensive position.

‘He is good on the ball, good in the air, good at attacking and defending,’’ assistant coach So pointed out.

“He is excellent and superb, I like the way he plays and he has a lot of talent that attracts many fans. He made good use of his height and fitness,” said Assistant Coach Sowe.

Lampard, ashe is fondly called, hailed his coaches from World Eleven FC, Dragons FC, Commit FC and NAS FC alongside his fans especially his father without whose support and encouragement he would not be where he is today.
