Plumbi United FC were last Saturday crowned champions of the Banjul League Finals.
They defeated their opponents Green House FC of Old Jeshwang in a post penalty shootout that ended 4-2 at the Banjul Mini Stadium.
The match was quite an entertaining encounter but the first half was undeniably dominated by Green House, but they wasted all lot of chances, which could have resulted in goals. The defence line of Plumbi, which proved a hard nut to crack, did not allow them to penetrate them. However during the second half of the game Plumbi concentrated on the game and as a result controlled the match
At the end of the final, which was sponsored by the Banjul Sports Committee, Plumbi United, as winners, were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of D15,000 whilst the runners up received D10,000.
In another development Jollof Tutors also sponsored the leading goal scorer prize, most disciplined player and most promising player among others
At the moment plans are underway through the Banjul Sports Committee to develop KG5 into a modern mini stadium.
