Tuesday, September 8, 2009

As part of a nationwide tour of villages and towns in the country, Q-Cell the latest GSM Company in the country last Saturday held a fast break (Iftar) in Gunjur, Kombo South.

The tour, according to officials, is geared towards meeting the people at the grassroots level, hear from them and know their concerns in order to serve them well.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Tombong Saidy, who led the team on the nationwide tour, said they were supposed to interact and share with 25 strategic and selected towns and villages.

According to Mr. Saidy, to better serve the people one needs to go back to them and know their problems.

“We at Q-Cell believe in serving the people by their needs. In doing this we felt we must go back to the people at the grassroots level to hear from them and know their problems and needs in order to serve them better”, he said.

This, he went on, is what motivated Q-cell to go on a nationwide tour of 25 strategic and selected areas across the country.

Mr. Saidy said Q-Cell is also trying to show its gratitude to the Gambian people by organising special “Iftar” (fast break) in every place they visit during the holy month of Ramadan. “We also share with them our banners, T-shirts, Sim cards and other experiences,” he added.

Mr. Alhagie Sandang Bojang, the Programme Director of the Trust Agency for Rural Development (TARUD) and a native of Gunjur hailed Q-cell for the fast break.

“We are so happy to receive you in our community. We are really proud of you for choosing Gunjur in your strategic places of Iftar”(fast break) and for choosing our country as a place to establish your GSM company”, he said, adding that Q-Cell’s existence will go a long way towards providing affordable and reliable services for the Gambian people.

Other speakers included the Imam of Gunjur, Alhagie Ghawsu Touray and Alhagie Janko Sireh Darboe of the Elder’s Council, who hailed and commended Q-cell for their support to the Gambian people.
