According to the alleged offence, on 6th May 2008 at Sanchaba-Sulay Jobe the accused, Abdoulie Jallow, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of an under age girl. He denied the charge.
His defence counsel, Badou Conteh, applied to the court for the case to be withdrawn on the grounds that the two parents had met and both agreed for the case to be withdrawn.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector objected to the defence counsel application, arguing that this is a serious offence and is only the Attorney General’s Chambers that has the mandate to withdraw such cases.
Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara later upheld the prosecution objection and the case was later called into Chamber.
