Sanchaba Community Hails Philanthropists

Thursday, September 10, 2009
The Sanchaba community of Kombo North Western Region has hailed a young philanthropist, Mr. Alfusainey Gano, Brikama Area Council, the Gambia Red-Cross, among others, for the support given to them because of the strategy caused by heavy storm.
“We are very grateful to Mr. Gano, Brikama Area Council, the Gambia Red Cross and all those who stood in supporting us in different humanitarian grounds during the course of our difficult days. We wish them all well in all their aspirations and endeavours,” said one Mr. Alieu Darboe a 60-year-old man in Sanchaba.
For one Nyimansata Camara, the action shown by Gano and others is a clear manifestation of their concern for humanity and love for supporting the weak and the vulnerable.
“We hope Allah will consider them in all their aspirations as they consider us at a very difficult moment. We are very grateful to them,” she said.
Speaking in an interview with our reporter, the young philanthropist, Mr. Alfusiney Gano, said it is good to help people when they need your support, especially when one is in a position to help.
“I quiet accept and appreciate their words of wisdom but I think when one helps him/herself, then commending him or her will be an exaggeration”, he said, adding that what had happened was destined by God.
“This was a natural disaster that happened to people who are vulnerable and in need of help. How can one eat or sleep comfortably when some people due to a natural disaster have no food and no house to sleep,” he stated.
For him, Muslims and neighbours should always stand by each other, particularly in times of difficulties.
