In fulfilment of its mandate to continue the teaching and spreading of the Islamic faith, the Sheikh Omar Foutiyou Taal Islamic Foundation will, on Sunday 29th April 2009, hold the annual Ziyara of Sheik Omar Foutiyou Taal at Gunjur, Kombo South.

This year’s occasion is expected to be graced by His Excellency Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, president of the Republic of The Gambia, and will be held under the spiritual leadership and guidance of Thierno Basirou Tall, Khalif General of Sheik Omar Foutiyou.

The  Gunjur Ziyara has now grown so big that it has become one of the biggest and most important Ziyaras, not only in The Gambia but also in the sub-region. As in previous years, especially last year, tens of thousands of pilgrims from The Gambia and neighbouring countries like Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Mali and beyond are expected to attend.
