St. Georegs Gildeme Denmark and the Gambia Baden Powell International Scout recently donated a container full of materials to various institutions in the country. The gesture is part of their contributions to nation-building.

The donated items included hospital beds, hospital equipment, computers, mattresses, deck chairs, printers, scanners, cupboards, toys and games for children, school tables and chairs, sewing machine, tents, school uniforms, among other valuable items.

The beneficiaries include RVTH, Little Trees Skill Training Centre, scouts in Sanyang, Sanyang Police and Health Centre, Hanne Vibe Nursery School, Soma Skills Traning Centre, Gola Fortune School, Bakau New Town School and Gambia Boys Scout Association.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony held at Bakau New Town School, Pa Omar Bojang, the Project Manager of St. Goerge Guild of Denmark told the gathering that this was not the first time they have been rendering assistance to Gambians. He recalled that six months ago a 40ft container was distributed to different institutions in the country.

Mr. Bojang urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the donated materials, adding that the donated items were collected and shipped by their Danish friends.

He further commended their Danish counterparts for what he described as a timely intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Babucarr Ngum and Sheriff Manneh, Officer Commanding Sanyang Police Station, both thanked the Danish for their immense contribution.

They assured the donors that the donated item would be put to good use, adding that the gesture came at time when they are in dire need of assistance.
