St. Georges Guild Donates

The St.Georges Guilds Denmark, in collaboration with The Gambia Boden Powel International Fellowship, on Tuesday distributed a 40 ft container full with health and learning materials.

The presentation was held at the Little Tree Skills Centre in Bakoteh.

The donated items include, hospital equipment, laminating machines, sewing machines, sporting materials, furniture and wheel chairs among other items. The beneficiaries included: Basse Majo Health Centre, Old Jeshwang Clinic, Gambia Scout Association, Soma Scout Skills Centre, Department of State for Youth and Sports, Sanyang Scouts, Kerr MamaLowerBasicSchool, Mbanta Medrissa and Nursery School, AjiAwaBahNursery School and The Gambia Immigration Department.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the project co-ordinator, Mr. Pa Omar Bojang, said the Danish – Gambia fellowship have been relentlessly contributing to the welfare of the association and the community. Mr. Bojang noted that the Danish fellowship has not been a friend but like family. He added that the cementing of their friendship has been established since 1970. He added that the Gambia Scout Association has benefited from lots of donations from their fellowship. Mr. Bojang further revealed that words would not be enough to express their gratitude for the humanitarian gesture. He urged the beneficiaries to put the items to good use.

For his part, the deputy permanent secretary, at the Department of State for Youths and Sports, Mr. Abdoulie Kah, whose department also benefited from the donation thanked the donors for the kind gesture and encouraged the fellowship to keep up the good humanitarian work.

Speaking earlier, the project leader in Denmark, Karim Boldsen, also expressed delight over the gesture of presenting such a handsome donation to The Gambia Scout Association and other social institutions.

She underscored the importance of being nice especially to the needy. “We will continue to put our efforts in and the help the people of The Gambia,” she said. Other speakers included the immigration representative – Inspector Jawara. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Baboucarr Ngum public relations officer of RVTH.
