The fact that the Palestinians have been enduring a blockade for the last 18 months has left them weakened and without supplies. In this state they are even less able to defend themselves in the face of the Israeli onslaught. It is clear from the way the Israeli’s are bombing everything including schools, hospitals, police stations and government buildings that they intend to crush the people of Palestine and ensure that they can not return to any semblance of a normal, functional life even when they stop raining fire on their heads and killing their children.

Reports reveal that entire families of Palestinians are being killed by these bombs. This is utterly indefensible. No civilised nation can possibly defend actions of this kind, it is unbridled savagery. The international community has shown itself to be sadly wanting in this situation. Inaction on the part of the community reveals the deeply unfair advantage that Israel enjoys on the world stage. This must stop now. Justice demands it.

CORRIGENDUM to Editorial
It was stated in our editorial of Monday 4 January, 2009, that winner of Ghana’s presidential election, Mr Atta Mills, helped in establishment of NTC in Gambia. The correction has been duly made that Mr Atta Mills in fact took over as Vice President to former President Jerry Rawlings from Mr Arkaah who was the one who helped in establishing NTC in The Gambia, and in the 1970s not 1980s. We are thankful to Mr Hatib Janneh, JIMPEX Proprietor, for the rectification.
