Supposed Marabout Arraigned for Theft

Martos Conteh, a supposed marabout, was on Monday the 8thDecember 2008 disgracefully arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on a charge of stealing. He denied the charge.

According to the particulars of the offence, in May, 2008, the accused at Serrekunda, Dippa Kunda, stole a nylon bag containing D5, 000 cash, a silver ring and a mobile phone. Magistrate Wadda-Ceesay then granted the accused person bail in the sum of D20, 000 with a Gambian surety. She adjourned the case to the 29thDecember 2008 for hearing.

The Inspector General of Police was represented by Cadet-Inspector Mballow.
