Mr. Momodou Turo Darboe, a businessman cum philanthropist and the CEO of Vision Development Foundation on Tuesday 21st July, 2009, donated D20, 000.00, worth of computers, televisions, fax machines, printers, scanners, photocopiers and other equipment to various institutions in the country.
The beneficiaries include the National Intelligence Agency, Immigration Department, Drug Squad, and Traffic Police Units, all at Barra Police Station. Also, among the beneficiaries were
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Vision Development Foundation Office in Churchill’s Town, Momodou Manta Jallow, the Project Coordinator at the foundation said the presentation ceremony was part of the events marking the 15th Anniversary of the 22nd July Revolution.
According to Mr. Jallow, Vision Development Foundation was established by Momodou Turo Darboe, with a view to complementing the APRC government’s efforts in its drive to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, Vision 2020 and the Silicon Valley of Africa initiative.
He stated that the foundation was registered as a charitable organisation at the business registration office in October 2006, and subsequently registered as a local Non-Governmental Organisation in April 2007.
Mr. Jallow added that the vision of the foundation is to ensure the realisation of the existence of a cohesive, united, cooperative, conscious and a peaceful society that can articulate opportunities, mobilise resources and implement their own development priorities geared towards socio-economic advancement of the country.
