Two Guineans with Fake Dollars Arraigned

Ousman Jallow and Alpha Omar Jallow, Guinean nationals, were on the 16thDecember, 2008, arraigned before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of fake dollars. They were charged on two counts while Cadet-Inspector Mballow represented the IGP.

Count one stated that the accused persons on or about the 17thNovember, 2008 at Churchill’s Town area were found in possession of 1,000 fake US Dollars, knowing same to be fake currency.

According to count two, the accused persons on the same day and place were found in possession of blacken papers, two knives and a pair of scissors for the purposes of forgery.

They pleaded not guilty on both counts.

Magistrate Mbackeh granted them bail on the deposition of D10, 000 each or the provision of a Gambian surety with a landed property of that value, the title deed of which should be deposited to the Assistant Registrar.

He then adjourned the case to the 6thJanuary, 2009, for hearing.
