The Gambia U-17 on Friday played a deadlocked game against newly promoted first division side, Brikama United, as part of the team’s preparatory efforts for the 8th African U-17 tournament in Algeria in March.

Brikama United took the lead in the 18th minute of the first half but after heavy pressure and numerous attempts, the Darling Scorpions leveled the score in the 85th minute from a penalty kick.

Coach Trik Siagy, head Coach of The Gambia U-17 team, pointed out that the aim of the game was to prepare the boys both physically and mentally ahead of the U-17 tournament.

“The game was a good one and the boys have shown their talents on the pitch. The boys are very fit which has reflected in their performance,” he added.

Ensa Sambou, Brikama United Coach described the game as an important step towards his teams preparations for upcoming Gambia Football Association first Division league.
